Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran is an American businesswoman. The Corcoran Group, an NYC-based real estate brokerage, was founded by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran then left the business. Corcoran was one of ABC's original Shark investors was a featured guest of every episode of Shark Tank. Since February of 2020, she's signed 53 deals for the show, with the biggest one being $350,000 to purchase 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second of 10 children from a working class Irish Catholic family. Florence, her mother, was an excellent homemaker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr., bounced from job to job during Corcoran's childhood. Her family often depended on food delivery services for free from a local grocer. Corcoran remembers her father as a drunkard who sometimes treated her mother with condescension and disrespect, especially when he had been drinking. Corcoran struggled with her education and was diagnosed with dyslexia. Corcoran was a student at an area Catholic elementary school, and then began the high school system in St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. Corcoran was proficient in several courses her freshman year. She transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a D.
